Governor Senator Ifeanyi Okowa has lauded the outstanding achievements of the 2014 National Youths Service Corps [NYSC] Presidential Award Recipients on community development and youth empowerment programmes from the state.
Speaking when the recipients paid him a courtesy call in Asaba, Governor Okowa, represented by the Chief of Staff, Government House, Hon. Tam Brisibe, stated that the State was proud to have over 8 Deltans as recipients of the award.
Getting the Presidential award is something that is done yearly and not all states have candidates that are awarded but for 8 of you to be nominated and given the awards shows first of all your commitment to the national service that you went for and you definitely have been good ambassadors of Delta state, the Governor said, adding on behalf of the people of Delta state, I would like to let you know that we are very proud of what you have done and what you have achieved.
He promised that the State Government would in due course honour their achievements as Deltans and partner with them in youth empowerment programmes.
Speaking on behalf of the award recipients Miss Tosan Obodiwe stated that the purpose of their visit was to foster a partnership with the State Government on youth empowerment projects as well as community development and healthcare schemes.
As Deltans who have excelled in our various fields we would like an opportunity to be role models to the youths by partnering with the state government on multiple youth empowerment programmes and develop our communities by engaging in various developmental projects.
